Are the generated UUIDs sent to a server?

No. UUIDs are generated locally in your browser with the Web Crypto API and never leave your device — which also means no one else can ever see them.

What is a UUID v4?

A UUID (universally unique identifier) is a 128-bit value written as 36 characters, e.g. 550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000. Version 4 fills 122 of those bits with random data, so collisions are astronomically unlikely — you can generate billions without a realistic chance of a duplicate.

Are these UUIDs cryptographically secure?

Yes. Generation uses crypto.randomUUID(), backed by your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator — not Math.random().

Can it generate UUID v1 or v7?

Accepted Answer

Not yet — this tool generates version 4 (random) UUIDs only. Time-ordered versions like v1 and v7 may be added later.
